This is a one-of-a-kind, original work of art. There is only one and when it's gone, it's gone.
This piece shows an abstract view of the deep green foliage that hangs over Wanchese, a town on Roanoke Island that is named for a Native American who traveled to England with the colonists in 1584. The island, located in the Roanoke and Croatan Sound, is full of history, but my memories of it are from childhood. My family and I traveled to the island when I was younger and I remember how green and amazing the trees are juxtaposed with the blue of the water. This diptych (two pieces meant to hang together) depicts that magic and mystery of the natural flora and fauna of Wanchese.
Pieces are signed by the artist along the outer edge of canvas.
